The purpose of this work is to formulate the development of an architectural design proposal that intersects a solid waste sorting and processing plant located in illegal landfills (VIRS), with public space and environmental education facilities. Thus contributing to the reduction of landfills, in addition to generating monetary income with the sale of the resulting material, contributing to the economic sustainability of the project through a business model.

In addition, the implementation of public space at its access level, proposing the general guidelines to establish a typological project that allows it to be implemented in places that meet certain implementation parameters. A case study is developed, located at the west end of the commune of Cerro Navia, which lacks public space, in addition to having a significant amount of surface affected by the VIRS. The proposal proposes an adaptable solution to two types of terrain (slope and horizontal terrain), generating a typological architectural proposal for these two location options.Through the investigation in the respective institutions, it is sought to quantify the resources used for the cleaning of VIRS and thus demonstrate that the collection, treatment and subsequent sale of residual matter that is housed in the public space is a profitable way that contributes to the triad of economic, social and environmental sustainability.
